Makruk (Thai chess)
Makruk or Thai chess, is a board game descended from the 6th-century Indian game of Chaturanga the ancestor of the western chess.
Makruk is still played avidly throughout Thailand and in Cambodia (where it is known as "Ok"), although the familiar western chess is also becoming popular in those areas. Each year in Thailand, a national Makruk tournament is held, and the play level in competition is very high.
Makruk is more strategic than western chess. You have to plan your operations with total care since Makruk can be compared to an anticipated endgame of western Chess.
